HOKIES HONOR VIRGINIA TECH CORP OF CADETS WITH NIKE PRO COMBAT UNIFORMS

Virginia Tech football unveils the Nike Pro Combat uniforms that will be worn Labor Day Night in the season opener with Boise State. Nike met with Head Coach Frank Beamer and Associate A.D. for Football Operations Dr. John Ballein back in March to initiate the process, and Virginia Tech captains, Tyrod Taylor and John Graves (pictured above), had heavy input in the actual design. The all black uniform pays tribute to the cadet black-and-gray regalia worn by Virginia Tech's original football team and honors the school's current Corp of Cadets. Appearing above with Tyrod Taylor and John Graves are current VT Cadets Christine Barry and Matthew Buffington.

Representing Virginia Tech at the official news conference is Col. Rock Roszak. Col. Roszak is an alum of Virginia Tech and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. He received numerous decorations during 27 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force.

The other participating schools: Alabama, Boise State, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, TCU and West Virginia. The participating schools all rank in the preseason Top 25.
